As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within Asset & Wealth Management, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.
Job Responsibilities
  • Execute creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
  • Drives team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes (e.g., AI-assisted code review/refactoring, test strategy acceleration, incident/root-cause analysis support), while establishing consistent validation standards (secure coding, peer review, automated testing) and promoting reuse of effective patterns across the team.
  • Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.
  • Develop, test and support secure, high-quality production code, and review and debug code written by others.
  • Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems.
  • Work with cloud enablement technologies including AWS and its various services (e.g., ElastiCache, Postgres, Neptune, and S3).
  • Perform unit testing and integration testing using AI tools (Copilot and Roo Code) for software components.
  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies and software delivery lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in modern technical disciplines (e.g., cloud architecture, artificial intelligence).
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and its IT systems.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with 5+ years of applied experience.
  • Hands-on practical experience with 7+ years of experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Advanced proficiency in programming languages - Java, J2EE, and JavaScript/React.
  • Build and maintain responsive, high-performance user interfaces using React and AI elements, ensuring seamless user experiences across web applications at scale.
  • Proficiency in backend frameworks and tooling - Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Maven, Kafka, and REST APIs.
  • Experience developing microservices architectures with application resiliency and security best practices.
  • Proficiency in DevOps and continuous delivery - Git, Bitbucket, Harness CI/CD, and automated testing (Playwright).
  • Practical cloud-native experience - AWS with hands-on use of various services.
  • Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools (e.g., for coding, code review, test acceleration, troubleshooting) with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption within delivery practices.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skill
  • Experience in Java 8/11/17 and object-oriented design and analysis.
  • Experience with Unix, shell scripting, and Python.
  • Working experience with AI tools and agents.
  • Experience with OpenAI or Claude Code and writing custom skills.
  • Investment Accounting and Position Service domain knowledge, along with direct communication with the product team and management.
