Job description

The Grand Canyon South Rim, located north of the gateway town of Tusayan, Arizona spans 278 miles (447 km) of the Colorado River and surrounding uplands. Situated on the ancestral lands of 11 present-day Tribal Communities, the Grand Canyon is renowned for its extraordinary erosion features—a mile-deep canyon offering breathtaking vistas from both the north and south rims.
Summary of Position:
Responsibilities include providing bike safety instructions, maintaining and preparing equipment, guiding tours and offering local insights about tour routes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Guide and support guests during bike tours
  • Ensure bikes and equipment are properly maintained and prepared.
  • Achieve technical proficiency in bike building, repair, maintenance and safety through company- provided training
  • Welcome guests with a warm and friendly smile while providing exceptional bike rental customer service
  • Be knowledgeable about the park, local landmarks and historical sites.
  • Ensure that bikes are properly stowed and cleaned in the storage area at the end of day
  • Exhibit professional behavior at all times when communicating with guests and fellow employees
  • Assist in the retail gift store, convenience store and deli when requested
  • Support and understand all safety and environmental requirements
  • Understand Company ISO management systems, policies, goals, and initiatives and meet the specific responsibilities within these areas
  • Actively participate in creating a positive work environment, promoting team work
  • Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
  • Excellent customer service and people skills
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather
  • Must be able to work a variety of shifts
  • Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills – must be able to read, write and speak English
  • Must be able to meet and/or exceed customer expectations
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally. Position involves frequent bending, twisting, lifting and squatting. Majority of shift will be spent cycling, or on feet, for up to 8 hours per day in a fast paced environment.
Education and Experience
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required
Experience: Prior tour guiding experience preferred
