Description
Primary Job Purpose & Key Business Needs:
Moana Nursery will start servicing landscape contractors and other construction professionals at our Minden Farm starting in Spring of 2026. We are looking for team members to operate this re-wholesale outlet in conjunction with our contractor services team in Reno and our growing team in Minden. Improve your landscaping horticultural knowledge and develop equipment operating skills!
Your Future Role:
As a Contractor Services teammate at our Minden Farm location, you will be providing service to contractor customers on site, loading material, using point-of-sale to complete transactions, participating in the unloading and receiving shipments, providing feedback on product selection, helping to open and close the business each day, operating machinery, and maintaining/securing the property among other things. Together with our retail and growing teams our objective is to grow this business segment by ensuring we maintain quality plant material, replicate our existing customer service processes and develop a proactive sales strategy to add new customers. This position will report to the Contractor Services Manager of Heybourne Road in Minden.
To succeed in this role, a candidate will be punctual and reliable. They must be able to operate the machinery onsite and do so with the utmost safety and care for the equipment. An ideal candidate will also be eager to assist our contractor customers in a pleasant manner, learn our point-of-sale program, unload the material, and proactively identify tasks around the property in order to maintain a clean, organized, safe, and presentable material yard.
The ability to speak in Spanish is highly desired but is not required for this role. Some experience with landscape plants and the willingness to learn more is important.
Requirements
Your Specific Job Responsibilities:
  • Upholds Moana Nursery's strict safety policies
  • Shows up on time ready to work
  • Helps ensure that the operational hours of the business can be achieved
  • Communicates regularly with the Contractor Services manager and other teammates on property
  • Has good inventory accuracy practices and helps keep product in good health by maintaining our irrigation systems
  • Completes thorough and accurate pre-trip safety checks on equipment
  • Communicates regularly with the Contractor Services manager and/or fleet manager to ensure Preventative Maintenance is completed regularly
  • Answers customer questions about our products and services
  • Promptly responds to customer needs, requests for service or assistance
  • Helps document customer requests for material
  • Takes orders over the phone, in person and through email and inputs data into system
  • Assists in customer pick-ups and deliveries
  • Helps ensure that marketing, directional, and safety signage is in place and up to date
  • Carefully loads product into vehicles and unloads them safely for our customers
  • Lifts and moves heavy objects such as trees, bags of soil
  • Has the ability and willingness to interact with and provide exceptional customer service to our customers

Physical Requirements & Activity:
  • Applicant must be able to lift 75 lbs.
  • Applicant must be able to work outdoors for an extended period of time as needed
  • Applicant must be able to learn and operate our point-of-sale program

Expertise & Experience Requirements:
  • Proficient in basic level computer skills
  • Organized and detailed
  • Landscaping horticulture experience
  • Equipment operating experience, or, we can train you on this valuable skill! (small tractor/backhoe, UTV, skid steer, forklift, etc.)
  • Valid Driver's License

Nice To Have Skills or Experiences:
  • Retail experience
  • Spanish speaking
  • Experience with EPICOR Eagle
  • Works well under pressure and is able to prioritize and multi-task
  • Experience working a Point-of-Sale system

Your Future Work Schedule:
Our Minden location will be open 5 days a week from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, during the spring season we'll be open on Saturdays for half a day. We are looking for teammates that can work during the week and potentially on Saturdays, totaling at least 40 hours. We may require occasional flexibility depending on business needs.
