Description

The Park and Facility Maintenance Specialist position is responsible for routine and preventive maintenance operations as assigned in parks and recreation facilities and amenities. In addition, the position will provide other maintenance or special assistance to other park district departments throughout the year. This position will participate in a job split focusing primarily on Facility Maintenance from April to September, and Park Maintenance from September to April. Typical hours 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

The employee's contribution for their Medical, Dental with Orthodontics, Hearing and Vision premiums is 12%. Eligible staff have a choice of an HMO or PPO Plan. Plan options range from single, employee + child, employee + spouse, employee + children, family and domestic partner.

Requirements

Essential duties include communicate operation specifics to the Superintendent and Maintenance Managers, complete assigned projects, attend staff meetings, safety and educational trainings, implement customer service procedures as applicable to the position's operation, provide productive and efficient labor to any crew assigned for the day by implementing an effective daily work schedule to efficiently complete facility and park maintenance operations, implement facility capital equipment repairs, replacements and improvements, operate heavy machinery including tractors, high lift truck, backhoe, loader, operate chain saws and various other power tools, assist with facility maintenance operations, assist with approved District-wide trash collection, assist with approved District-wide tree maintenance program, assist with the District-wide snow and ice removal maintenance system, and adhere to safety and risk management procedures as applicable to the position's operations. Minimum requirements for this position include a high school diploma or GED, associate's degree preferred, with a minimum of two years full-time experience in the field. Certified Pool Operator or Aquatic Facility Operator. Certifications in HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing are desirable. Ability to obtain an Illinois Pesticide Operator License, and Illinois Secretary of State Class B Commercial Driver's License with Air Brake endorsement within 90 days after employment is required.
