Job description

Summary
Are you an experienced actuarial leader ready to influence pricing strategy, predictive analytics, and business performance across a diverse Property & Casualty insurance portfolio? At Mapfre Insurance, you'll lead a team of Actuaries, and Data Scientists while driving critical initiatives that support profitable growth and strategic decision-making.
In this highly visible role, you'll lead pricing analytics ensuring that analytical processes evolve with changing business needs, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements. The individual provides thought leadership regarding machine learning, artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, and data governance while ensuring solutions are business-focused, interpretable, and operationally sustainable. Working closely with Actuarial Pricing, Product Management and business leaders to develop innovative analytical capabilities that improve pricing precision, customer segmentation, risk assessment, retention, and profitability..
What You'll Bring
  • Experience leading, coaching, and developing Actuaries and/or Data Scientists while ensuring timely, high-quality project delivery.
  • Experience with machine learning techniques including GLMs, gradient boosting, random forests, neural networks, and clustering methodologies.
  • Experience developing and gaining regulatory approval of predictive models and class plans.
  • Strong understanding of insurance pricing principles and regulatory requirements. Knowledge of model governance, validation, monitoring, and documentation practices.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL, Python, and modern data science toolsets used for predictive modeling, machine learning, and statistical analysis. Expertise supporting and enhancing Personal and Commercial Lines, including identifying and evaluating predictive variables used in pricing models.
  • Ability to translate complex analyses into actionable business recommendations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the flexibility to support ad hoc projects and business initiatives.

What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional knowledge and experience in a specialized field such as Actuarial Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related quantitative discipline.
  • 7-9 years of experience, or an Associate's degree equivalent plus 9-11 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong expertise in Property & Casualty pricing.
  • Experience leading actuarial or data science professionals and managing complex projects.
  • Advanced quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Experience with predictive modeling and analytics platforms including Python, R, Snowflake, SAS, Earnix, Akur8, Emblem, or similar analytical environments. Strong business acumen with the ability to influence decisions through data-driven insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across actuarial, product, business and analytics teams.

Pay Transparency: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by several factors including skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. Some roles at Mapfre are eligible for commission and/or bonus earnings, in addition to salary, calculated based upon factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
Salary Range: $100,000 - $170,000
