Job description

BASIC FUNCTION:

Install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in commercial or industrial establishments. This role will be hybrid at both the Third Street and Covington facilities to support regular production and the equipment moves associated with execution of future factory vision.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Assist production in eliminating work center downtime
  • Ensure equipment efficiency optimization through cleaning, preventative maintenance, and other necessary tasks
  • Implement facility improvements through floor grinding, light installation, painting, etc.
  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts
  • Examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections
  • Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments
  • Repair or replace defective parts as needed. Install special functional and structural parts in devices. Lubricate and clean parts
  • Start and run machine tools to test and verify their performance
  • Set up and operate lathes, drill presses, grinders, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts
  • May initiate purchase orders for parts and machines. Repairs electrical equipment
  • Install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment such as machine tools, conveyors, and programmable controllers
  • Connect power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connect cables and wires between machines and equipment
  • Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables
  • Test malfunctioning machinery and discuss malfunction with maintenance team workers, to diagnosis malfunction.
  • Replace faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, motors, and position sensing devices
  • Replace electric motor bearings
  • Plan layout of wiring and install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatuses
  • Diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or three to 6 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Capability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds
