Position Overview

IQ Automation is seeking a Residential & Commercial AV Technician to join our installation team. This position is ideal for someone with 14 years of experience in low-voltage, AV, networking, electrical, or smart home technologies who enjoys hands-on work and problem-solving.
You'll work alongside experienced technicians on a variety of projects, from luxury smart homes to commercial environments, helping bring sophisticated technology systems to life. We provide ongoing training, professional development, and clear opportunities for advancement as your skills grow.
What You'll Do

As an AV Technician, you'll play an important role in delivering successful projects and outstanding client experiences. Responsibilities include:
  • Installing audio, video, automation, networking, surveillance, and lighting control systems in residential and commercial environments.
  • Reading and following project documentation, wiring diagrams, and installation plans.
  • Running, terminating, testing, and labeling low-voltage cabling, including Cat6 cable, coaxial cable, and fiber optic cable.
  • Installing and configuring wired and wireless network equipment.
  • Assisting with system setup, programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Participating in all phases of installation, including pre-wire, trim-out, equipment installation, and final system testing.
  • Maintaining organized job sites, vehicles, tools, and inventory.
  • Communicating effectively with project managers, team members, and clients.
  • Troubleshooting technical issues and helping ensure systems perform as designed.
  • Participating in ongoing training and certification programs to expand your technical knowledge and career opportunities.
Qualifications

Required

  • 14 years of experience in AV, low-voltage, networking, electrical, or related technology installations.
  • Strong interest in technology and a willingness to learn.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Understanding of signal flow, structured cabling, and proper termination practices.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and Windows operating systems.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift equipment, work on ladders, and perform physical installation tasks.
Preferred

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field.
  • Industry certifications such as CEDIA CIT, CEDIA IST, CompTIA Network+, or similar credentials.
  • Experience with Control4, Lutron RadioRA, Lutron HomeWorks, Josh.ai, or comparable systems.
  • Experience with D-Tools SI or D-Tools Cloud.
  • Networking experience including routers, switches, and wireless access points.
