Job description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Commercial Roof Inspector to assess the condition, quality, and compliance of roofing systems on commercial properties. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of roofing materials, industry standards, and safety regulations, and will be responsible for identifying potential issues, documenting findings, and making maintenance or repair recommendations. This role is critical in ensuring that all roofing work meets client expectations and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of commercial roofing systems (flat, low-slope, metal, TPO, EPDM, etc.)
  • Assess structural integrity, material condition, installation quality, and waterproofing
  • Identify signs of damage, deterioration, or non-compliance with building codes
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports, including photographs, diagrams, and recommendations
  • Communicate findings clearly to clients, contractors, and project managers
  • Ensure all inspections comply with OSHA safety guidelines and relevant building codes
  • Collaborate with repair crews and project managers to prioritize maintenance and repairs
  • Monitor ongoing roofing projects to ensure work is performed to specification
  • Stay current on roofing technologies, materials, and industry best practices
  • May assist in developing preventive maintenance plans for clients

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or degree in construction, roofing, or a related field preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial roofing, inspection, or construction
  • Strong knowledge of various commercial roofing systems (BUR, TPO, PVC, EPDM, metal, etc.)
  • Familiarity with roofing inspection tools and software (e.g., drones, infrared imaging, moisture scanners)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong documentation skills
  • Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions
  • OSHA certification and/or other safety training preferred
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Working Conditions:
