Zayo serves wireless and wireline carriers, media, tech, content, finance, healthcare and other large enterprises.

Zayo is seeking a Network Operations Center Technician. Our Network Operations Center Technicians monitor the health of the entire network and also support Service Assurance Repair in a 24x7x365 environment. In case of an Outage situation, Network Operations Center Technicians are responsible for the creation and coordination of an Outage Parent ticket. Responsibilities also include carrier and tech dispatches, working with vendors, and engaging Operations Engineering.  Network Operations Center Technicians should be proficient in two or more technical disciplines (VoIP/SIP, Data, and Transport).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Understanding of VoIP protocols, SIP signaling, network QOS, IP routing, Ethernet switching (including 802.11q, 802.11p, 802.3af)

  • Understanding of IP Routing fundamentals (to include IPV4 and IPV6)

  • Working knowledge of legacy telecom transport equipment and services (SONET, Muxes, DACS)

  • Interprets a Network DLR (circuit design) to determine a circuit path and types of equipment as well as their location in a CO rack

  • Works with varying delivery methods (L2/3 VPN, MPLS, Metro and Carrier Ethernet, IPSEC, and legacy TDM)

  • Responds to incoming support requests from internal and external departments as needed

  • Interacts with various carriers, creating tickets over phone/email/ebonding and escalating accordingly until resolution

  • Acts as a central escalation point between Service Assurance and Engineering

  • Serves as the on-call technical resource for trouble escalations after hours on a rotational basis

  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a telecommunications technician or related discipline preferred

  • Advanced working knowledge of network operations and equipment, preferred

  • CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, Cisco CCNP, Adtran ATSA, Adtran ATSP, Juniper JNCIA and/or Juniper JNCIP certifications, preferred

  • Familiarity with Central Office/Colocation scenarios, wiring (copper & fiber), cages, racks etc.

Requires constant keyboarding, sitting, hearing and talking, occasional standing and walking, and infrequent bending at the waist, twisting of the upper body, kneeling, walking on uneven surfaces, squeezing and crouching.  Requires infrequent lifting and carrying of from 1-20 pounds.  Close detail work requiring visual acuity.  Must be able to perform primarily sedentary work.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Associates or Bachelors Degree in a technical field (i.e. Computer Science or Electrical Engineering) preferred.

Estimated Base Pay Range: $25.91 - $34.51 USD/hour

Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted range based upon geographic location, work experience, skill level, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Non- sales roles may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive plan. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a sales incentive plan.
