Job description

Position Summary: Finishes whitewood frames to specified color and/or finish utilizing knowledge of wood properties to finish.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Use schedule to pull frames, read tickets and/or job notes prior to glazing to verify correct finish.
  • Move frame into booth.
  • Use correct technique for frame: Basic-spray & wipe clean Spray & Brush to panel-to mirror panel color, Spray & Brush clean-wiping, or Dry Brush technique-streaking and/or antiquing.
  • Perform all duties safely and report any safety hazards to your immediate supervisor including proper lifting techniques.
  • Maintains neat and orderly workstation.
  • Wears required safety glasses and foot wear; works safely and reports unsafe conditions to Dept. Supervisor
  • Performs daily stretching exercises.
  • Performs other duties as required by supervisor.



Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Must be knowledgeable in finishing processes.
  • Must be skilled in in handwork using brush and/or sprayer.
  • Must have ability to recognize parts and style numbers.
  • English required for reading tickets and instructions.
  • Must be able to understand and follow packing specifications.


Valued but not Required Skills and Experience:

  • Previous knowledge of furniture finishing.


Physical demands and work environment:

  • Lift / Carry: Frequently lifting 35 – 50 lbs. onto and off work station; occasionally lifting in excess of 50 lbs.; team lift greater weights. Must be able to lift/remove and flip over pieces for finishing.
  • Standing / Walking: Must be able to stand and walk consistently during the 8+ hour day.
  • Reach / Handle / Grasp/Feel: Repetitive use of hands required. Must be able to use drills, screwdrivers, staple guns throughout the day.
  • Bend / Lift / Stoop: Gathering supplies throughout day from various heights.
  • Push/Pull: Must be able to push frames into designated work zones; or pull with designated tow tool.
  • Environment: Indoors, controlled airflow, no air conditioning.
  • Tool Usage: Required to use glue gun, spray gun, rubber mallet, hammer, screwdriver, channel locks, adjustable wrenches, and other tools for entire shift.
  • Color Determination: Must distinguish colors and finishes for match, accuracy and quality.
  • Near Acuity: Requires close vision of less than 3 feet, with or without corrective lenses, for precision.
