The group you'll be a part of
In the Global Products Group, we are dedicated to excellence in the design and engineering of Lam's etch and deposition products. We drive innovation to ensure our cutting-edge solutions are helping to solve the biggest challenges in the semiconductor industry.
The impact you'll make
As a technician in the SEM Lab, you will support Lam's various business groups by providing rapid data turnarounds that enable faster problem resolution for Lam engineering in support of our customers. Productive internal microscopy work not only reduce turnaround times but also lowers costs to Lam compared to outside providers. Productive technicians help win business opportunities while reducing costs for the company-a win-win!
This is a back-end day shift position, alternating Wednesdays, every Thursday, Friday, Saturday on a 12-hr compressed schedule.
What you'll do
  • Preparation of STEM/TEM samples and imaging of samples in Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy (STEM) using Thermo Fisher Helios systems.
  • FIB-SEM analysis.
  • Follow lab methodology for STEM sample preparation consistent with quality standards.
  • Optimize personal workflow for efficient throughput of samples.
  • Communication with lab management to provide work completion time estimates.
  • Provide feedback to lab management for continuous improvement opportunities in lab workflows.
  • Communicate with team members to ensure alignment on methodologies.
  • Protect customer material and IP at all times.

Who we're looking for
  • 4+ years of experience with a BS degree in a physical science, or a specialized AS degree, or equivalent professional training in materials science and analytical techniques.
  • Experience operating dual-beam FIB/SEM tools, particularly in the preparation of thin lamellae for STEM or TEM imaging.
  • Experience creating and presenting technical documentation.
  • Strong spatial awareness for tool operation.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a high-throughput environment.
  • Knowledge of automated lamella preparation and sample imaging.
  • Ability to work a shift schedule.

Preferred qualifications
  • Familiarity with key developments and materials in the semiconductor industry.
  • Experience in customer IP protection and sample handling.
