Job Description

Under general supervision, responsible for guarding and monitoring all buildings and properties owned by the Ak-Chin Indian Community by maintaining a visible presence in the community in order to prevent theft, acts of vandalism and property destruction to tribal properties. Observes and monitors activity covered by the Community surveillance system. Security Guards may be assigned to a day, swing, or graveyard shift on a regular rotational basis that includes working nights, weekends, and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications

Must possess a High School diploma or GED or be willing to complete courses and obtain within no more than two (2) years after date of hire. Must have a valid Arizona Driver's License and be able to meet the Community's insurance carrier requirements. Must successfully complete a background check.

Examples of Duties
  • Guards, monitors the premises and secures the buildings and property of the Ak-Chin Indian Community.
  • Reports all non-criminal incidents in writing to the Ak-Chin Tribal Police Department.
  • Reports all criminal incidents to Law Enforcement Department immediately.
  • Provides customer service assistance such as directing the general public to Community facilities and properties.
  • Operates communication and surveillance equipment.
  • Logs and records all observations of actual and suspected crimes.
  • May be required to testify in court.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Must possess strong interpersonal, communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to operate surveillance center equipment.
  • Must deal with the public in a tactical, pleasant and courteous manner.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, push and/or pull; kneel, stoop, crouch or crawl; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Work is performed in outdoor weather conditions and may occasionally work near moving mechanical parts and be exposed to extreme cold and heat.
  • Occasionally must sit for long periods of time.
