What is a color grading internship?

A Color Grading Internship is a temporary position where you learn the process of adjusting and enhancing the color of video footage under the supervision of experienced colorists. Interns typically assist with color correction, create visual moods, and help maintain consistency across scenes in film, TV, or advertising projects. This role provides hands-on experience with professional color grading software and insight into post-production workflows. It's an excellent opportunity for those interested in digital media, film production, or visual storytelling to develop their technical and artistic skills.

What types of projects and tasks can I expect to work on during a color grading internship?

As a Color Grading Intern, you'll typically assist with organizing and preparing video footage, learning to use industry-standard color grading software, and supporting senior colorists on commercial, film, or television projects. Your daily tasks may include matching shots for consistency, creating looks following the director's vision, and performing technical quality checks. Interns often collaborate with editors, cinematographers, and post-production teams, gaining hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of the workflow. This role offers a great opportunity to build your portfolio and develop the technical and creative skills needed for advancement in color grading.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a color grading intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Color Grading Intern, you need a foundational understanding of color theory, visual storytelling, and basic video editing principles, often supported by coursework in film or media production.
