Job Summary:

The Color Artist performs image finishing, retouching, enhancement, improvement, and composition with a high level of precision and expertise.


Job Description:

  • Evaluate and perform color correction in CMYK and RGB, matching color as necessary to designated files/visuals.
  • Execute hi-res imaging and keyart finishing, comprehending and achieving client objectives and desired campaign look.
  • Prepare, optimize, and convert files from RGB to CMYK, following client-specific workflows and protocols.
  • Expand and acquire new knowledge and skills including artistic finishing techniques and evolving Photoshop features.
  • Review and access work accomplished. Evaluate color outputs, determining whether further work is needed.
  • Work with and take direction from Shift Leads and Color Leads to provide the highest level of service.
  • Keep leads apprised of changes and developments that may impact delivery and quality objectives.
  • Create CMYK separations (including regulating GCR and total ink density), PMS plates, and white ink plates, etc.
  • Assist Prepress/Premedia departments as needed. Update build files, adjust illustrator callouts, output Epsons, etc.
  • Perform Grand Format device proof color compensations. Make device and press compensations, as necessary.
  • Follow Company and client security policy and asset management protocols.

Pay Statement

The national pay range for this role is listed in the job posting. The pay range may be slightly lower or higher based on the geographic location. The actual pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program. Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications of Position:

  • Minimum 5 years professional experience with finishing and color.

Preferred Qualifications of Position:

  • Agency and/or Entertainment industry experience a plus.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • An “eye for color” and an understanding of color theory, color management, RGB to CMYK conversion, etc.
  • A diverse understanding of the graphic arts industry as it applies to digital, prepress, and printing.
  • Expert knowledge of desktop publishing tools including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Positive attitude with continuous aim and effort to improve.
  • Ability to work and communicate with co-workers in a professional manner.
  • Strong knowledge of changing technologies and workflows.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
