Job Description

The Commercial Specialized Lending Closer processes and supports certain core operational functions within Commercial Loan Specialty Financing (ie. Sponsor Finance, Equipment Finance, Sports Finance, Corporate Finance, etc.) while remaining compliant with Department procedures, Corporate policies, Compliance, Audit and legal requirements. Maintains an in-depth knowledge of all functions within the Specialty Finance groups to support and process as needed. Supports all projects and serve as subject matter expert (SME) on all initiatives within assigned area.

Essential Functions

  • Requires a self-starting individual with excellent follow through, time management skills, analytical thinking and organizations skills

  • Experience working in a production environment under time constraints and strict deadlines is a must

  • Serve as main contact point with Specialty Finance teams and other financial institutions, respond to and/or initiate complex requests related to these activities

  • Read and interpret complex legal credit agreements and related documentation, interacting with attorneys to ensure all required closing documentation is received and accurate

  • Analyze all incoming loan approval packages for all items needed to process the loan (ie. approval, collateral, signers, guarantors, etc.) ensuring proper documentation is produced based on the product and approval terms/conditions. Completes special processing related to the terms agreed upon by bank for select high value, unique processing loan relationships

  • Independently manage all aspects of deal from post approval to closing

  • Work with Treasury Management to ensure all borrower information is shared

  • Complete standard and non-standard document review, processing and validation related to funding new syndicated, participated or Specialty Finance transactions

  • Initiate loan activity (funding, repricing, payment) as instructed by the client in accordance with credit agreements

  • Calculate and track complex interest and fee accruals at various rate levels across changing lender distributions

  • Initiate and reconcile funds' movements in accordance with client/lender instructions

  • Research issues for relationship managers, client services and customers

  • Monitor and escalate past due principal, interest, and fees to ensure that the loan accounting system is accurate and provides clients timely and accurate invoices

  • Maintain margin changes and proper communication to bank group

  • Provide information as requested by clients, business partners, or lenders

  • Serve as department's escalation point for issues, provide timely and proactive communications with partners and stakeholders, and assist with working through complex transactions for resolution

  • Work with credit, audit and compliance to maintain loan portfolios, assuring that all loan files are documented properly, as well as core system reporting accuracy; authority to make recommendations to all processes

  • Work with Loan Servicing to process participation/syndicated loan transactions

  • Provide leadership in identifying recommending and enhancing processing activities to ensure exceptional customer experiences are delivered

  • Complete cross-training in all disciplines/functions of Specialty Team and serve as back-up for all team functions

  • Provide project support from department level to bank level projects and initiatives, utilize and challenge mid- to high-level procedures across the department, assist with management request to support department audits

  • Participate in system testing as needed, which may occur during non-business hours

  • Assist with any administrative tasks associated with the terms of a Credit Agreement

  • Perform quality control on new deals, restructures, and amendments by thoroughly understanding the credit agreement and verifying system set up accuracy

  • Collaborate with appropriate team members to ensure a timely, smooth customer experience

  • Responsible for training designated team member(s) on the end-to-end process

  • Provide back-up support for Trade Services and Letter of Credit products

  • Ensure compliance with Northwest's policies and procedures, and Federal/State regulations

  • Navigate Microsoft Office Software, computer applications, and software specific to the department in order to maximize technology tools and gain efficiency

  • Work as part of a team

  • Work with on-site equipment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Mathematics preferred Or
