Since 2001, the firm has helped public and private sector clients navigate complex policy landscapes and deliver impactful, community-centered solutions. We specialize in promoting equitable growth, fostering stakeholder engagement, and implementing integrated infrastructure strategies.
About the Role The Collaborative Firm is seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Communications & Engagement to lead public engagement efforts and shape community outreach for transit, infrastructure, and development projects. This senior role ensures strong engagement with clients, consultant teams, and communities, working alongside top engineering, planning, and transportation firms.
The chosen candidate will develop and implement public engagement strategies, oversee content development, and manage project deliverables—from public meetings and stakeholder communications to regulatory reporting and marketing support.
Key Responsibilities
Engagement
• Lead public involvement strategies aligned with project goals and community needs
• Plan and facilitate in-person and virtual public meetings, charrettes, and stakeholder sessions
• Serve as liaison to the public, advocacy groups, and community leaders
• Develop inclusive, culturally responsive outreach approaches
• Coordinate any marketing materials—flyers, FAQs, presentations, websites, social media
• Translate technical content for general audiences
• Track engagement metrics, report findings, and support grant and regulatory compliance
• Attend tradeshows and other industry events to solicit new business
Marketing & Communications
• Collaborate with the Senior Director on marketing materials and campaigns
• Provide content for proposals and RFPs
Project Leadership
• Manage multiple projects with detailed work plans and timelines
• Align public engagement with project milestones and KPIs
• Use digital tools and platforms to track deliverables and performance
• Manage firm Communications & Engagement Staff
• Develop a targeted long-term new business strategy to encompass potential partnerships with local and regional firms that will foster growth in key areas of service
Collaboration
• Work closely with internal teams, consultant partners, and clients
• Contribute to regional transit and infrastructure initiatives
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Urban Planning, or related field
• 7–10 years of relevant experience in public engagement and communications
• Exceptional writing, speaking, and presentation skills
• Experience managing cross-functional teams and projects
• Proficiency in MS Office, survey platforms, and virtual meeting tools
• Knowledge of metro Atlanta and local government landscape is a strong plus
