Metal Forming Technician — Press Brake and Shear Programmer

Location: Indian Trail, NC

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Pay: $22–$28/hour DOE (Higher compensation may be considered for highly qualified candidates)

What You’ll Do
  • Program, set up, and operate KAAST CNC press brakes to deliver precise, repeatable bends.
  • Shear material to specification using CNC shear equipment before forming.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, work orders, and specs; choose tooling and define bend sequences.
  • Enter parameters (material type/thickness, dimensions, bend angles, leg sizes) and validate results with first-article checks.
  • Troubleshoot in-process issues; adjust calibration, crowning, and deflection as needed.
  • Perform on-the-floor program edits to maintain flow and accuracy.
  • Inspect finished parts and document conformance to quality standards.
  • Complete basic preventive maintenance and machine checks.
  • Handle materials safely and assist with staging and movement.
  • Coordinate with project managers, estimators, and production leadership to meet deadlines.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement—define standards, eliminate waste, and refine processes.
  • Train and mentor less experienced operators on press brake fundamentals and Delem-controlled workflows.
QualificationsRequired
  • 3+ years of CNC press brake setup, programming, and operation.
  • Proficiency programming at the controller.
  • Experience with Delem, Delem 51T, or Dellum controls (strongly preferred).
  • Skilled with both CNC press brakes and shears.
  • Tooling selection, bend calculations, and forming process expertise.
  • Independent problem-solving and machine adjustment capability.
  • Understanding of calibration, crowning, and deflection compensation.
  • Blueprint and fabrication drawing literacy.
  • Strong math and measurement accuracy.
  • Self-directed with meticulous attention to quality.
Preferred
  • KAAST equipment experience.
  • Experience with aluminum, sheet metal, or architectural metals.
  • General CNC programming background.
  • Lean/process improvement familiarity.
  • Forklift experience.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand for long periods; frequently lift/move up to 50 lbs.
  • Work in hot, cold, noisy, or dusty manufacturing environments.
  • Safely guide large sheet metal components throughout fabrication.
