With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.

Overview

As a member of the DevOps team, you ensure that the developers have a stable and state-of-the art development environment that supports Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI / CD). The team combines the knowledge of our internal infrastructure, development tools, and modern development practices having an immeasurable impact on the effectiveness and productivity of the software development teams. The goal of the DevOps team is to continuously optimize the software development, testing, and deployment cycle. Activities range widely; development tooling configuration, setting up & enhancing continuous Integration pipelines, performance monitoring, maintenance, support, and application life cycle management.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and continuously improve automation solutions to enable teams to build and deploy code efficiently and consistently
  • Provide guidance to development teams to improve performance and operability of the solutions they develop
  • Develop or setup tools for monitoring, alerting, logging, and visualization
  • Establish metrics such as key performance indicators of the development process
  • Promote DevOps principles and culture across the software engineering organization
Required
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to effectively identify, analyze, and resolve challenges using various techniques and strategies
  • Expertise with one or more build systems such CMake, Bazel, Buck, Ninja, or Meson; CMake preferred
  • Expertise writing automation using multiple scripting/programming languages such as C, C++, Python, Ruby, Java, Kotlin, or JavaScript
  • Expertise with development on Linux based operating systems
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience; degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field preferred and 5+ years of experience in the software industry. An advanced degree and 3+ years of will also be considered
Desired
  • Expertise using container and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, Mesos, AWS ECS, or Azure Container Instances
  • Expertise administering critical services such as any of the services mentioned here, and also GitHub, Artifactory, or Nexus
  • Expertise with one or more metrics, monitoring and alerting tools such as Grafana, Cloudwatch, New Relic, Google Cloud Operations, or Splunk
  • Expertise with Continuous Integration platforms such as TeamCity, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins
  • Expertise managing Cloud Infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code and configuration-as-code using tools such as Terraform or Ansible
  • Familiar with DO-178C, Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification
Additional Information

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $125,600 - $202,800/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
