General Function
The Group Ex Instructor will be responsible for instructing group training classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that welcomes people of all skill and fitness levels.
Elite Group Exercise is a group-training program that delivers the best in fitness workouts - Strength training, Stability training, and Balance training.
Education/Experience/Training/Certifications
  • Required certifications: Area of Expertise, CPR, First Aid, AED, national certification (ACSM, ACE, AFAA, ISSA, NASM, NESTA, NETA, NPTI, NSCA) in personal training
  • 1 year of experience teaching group wellness classes is preferred, not required
  • Proven knowledge of exercise science, movement coaching, and movement competency
  • Completion of YMCA Healthy Lifestyles certification within 60 days of hire

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed, to accomplish YMCA's mission and goals
  • Asks and answers questions within their scope of knowledge from participants and members
  • Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members
  • Observes and adjusts approach to support all participants' capabilities, physical conditions, health, and culture
  • Performs other assigned duties as directed by the Supervisor
