Job description

Under the Direction of the Aquatics Manager, the Assistant Manager  will aid in the  leadership and supervision of the operation of the Aquatics Department, ensuring that high quality safe and well-organized programs, as well as  all aspects of the pool operations are conducted in a professional manner. This position will act on behalf of the Aquatics managers, in their absence, at both the Uptown and Metairie campuses within the guidelines of the aquatic policies. This person must be flexible and able to multitask.  They must  be able to exhibit great customer service skills, assuming the members feel comfortable,  welcomed and safe in all aspects of the Aquatics experience.  

What You'll Do:

  • Be responsible for ensuring the safety of all patrons at the pools.

  • Display an image that focuses on customer service and professionalism.

  • Monitor pool chemical balance and maintain accurate records in accordance of the Model Aquatic Health Code. 

  • Following all Health and Safety Regulations mandated by OSHA.

  • Follows  ADA standards, and advises when out of compliance. Inspect lifts weekly. 

  • Assists in the recruitment, training and supervision of all part-time Aquatics staff.

  • Assists in precepting new employees as scheduled. 

  • Helps to develop and deliver an aquatics program that retains current members and attracts new members.

  • Ensures effective pool rental management and logistics.

  • Assure efficient logistics for  pool parties for both campuses.

  • Teach LGI classes to both the membership and the community.

  • Provides emergency care and treatment as appropriate.

  • Demonstrate ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team.

  • Will lifeguard as needed.

  • Attend  and instruct lifeguard in-services as required.

  • Regularly inspect AED/ First Aid supplies and rescue equipment  bi- weekly. Present any issues or discrepancies to the aquatic management team.  

  • Assist with any and all emergencies that affect the safety of members and the employees.

  • Assist with any necessary provisions ahead or following inclement weather.

What You'll Bring:

  • College or University degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in an aquatics supervisory, management and/or administrative role from a variety of institution types (municipal, private, not-for-profit, etc).

  • Demonstrated ability to create unique and competitive aquatics programs.

  • Demonstrated customer service leadership.

  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
