Lead Teaching Assistant, NYC Tech Talent Pipeline - Data Analytics & Cybersecurity Bootcamp

Objective: The NYC Tech Talent Pipeline Residency Program at Baruch College is seeking a Lead Teaching Assistant to support a 10-week Data Analytics and Cybersecurity Bootcamp for Computer Information Systems (CIS) majors.The instructional team consists of 2 (2) Instructors, four (4) Teaching Assistants, and one (1) Lead Teaching Assistant. Team members will support approximately 60 CUNY students, facilitate skill-building tutorials, guide project work, and help ensure each student's successful completion of the program.

Reports To: Program Manager, TTP Residency at Baruch College
Timeline: Anticipated timeframe: May 18- August 24, 2026
Weekly schedule is 35 - 40 hours per week

ABOUT THE TECH TALENT PIPELINE

The NYC Tech Talent Pipeline (TTP), an initiative of the Workforce Development Corporation (WDC), is the City of New York's tech industry partnership. Launched in 2014, TTP supports the inclusive growth of NYC's tech sector and prepares New Yorkers for 21st-century careers. Through partnerships with over 385 companies, 17 local colleges, and multiple public and private organizations, TTP designs training programs that connect academic learning to industry needs, providing meaningful career pathways for students and skilled talent for employers.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist and support the instructor in delivering technical content related to data Analytics and cybersecurity.

  • Lead sessions or substitute for the instructor as needed.

  • Manage the daily assignment of breakout groups and support coverage among teaching assistants.

  • Monitor help tickets during instruction and lab/project work; respond to student questions in real time.

  • Identify student learning gaps and coordinate individualized tutoring support as needed.

  • Track and monitor student academic performance, ensuring timely feedback and interventions.

  • Provide hands-on support for student group and individual project development.

  • Review and grade assignments, including pre/post assessments and capstone projects.

  • Collaborate with the instructor to revise curriculum and design or refine assignments to meet instructional goals.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Strong foundation in either or both:

  • Data Analytics Tools: Python (pandas, numpy), SQL, Excel, Tableau or Power BI

  • Cybersecurity Concepts: System vulnerabilities, threat mitigation, network security, basic ethical hacking practices

  • Proficiency with Git and GitHub workflows

  • Ability to provide both technical support and mentorship to students

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with cloud computing tools (e.g., AWS, Azure)

  • Prior experience working as a teaching assistant in a CUNY or bootcamp setting

  • Interest or experience in cybersecurity frameworks and certifications (e.g., NIST, CompTIA)

Pay Range:

Minimum - Maximum: $30.00/hour
