We have an exciting opportunity for a part-time Security Officer to join our Risk Management & Safety department. The Security Officer will be responsible for protecting life and property of all persons on Christian Health properties premises and patrols all Christian Health buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft and vandalism. Responsible for the continuous surveillance, reporting and documenting all incidents and remaining sensitive to the need for delivery of quality service and assistance to all persons visiting Christian Health. Secures, unlocks and protects Christian Health buildings. Assigned to main campus and all Christian Health properties. Demonstrates an understanding of, and embraces, the mission statement of the Christian Health.
Competencies:
  • Enforce on campus parking regulations such as parking in fire zones, handicap parking, visitor parking, fleet parking and any non-parking areas.
  • Patrols buildings and grounds; and inspects doors, windows, and locks to determine level of security.
  • Continuous patrols throughout Christian Health properties to observe and take corrective action regarding violations and detrimental conditions related to security and safety of patients, residents, visitors, and employees.
  • Provides escorts to employees and visitors to and from vehicles and parking areas.
  • Patrols parking areas to detect any irregularities. Inspects outgoing parcels as necessary to prevent theft of Christian Health property.
  • Provides a visible deterrence to crime and prohibited activities by patrolling the buildings and grounds of Christian Health. Responds quickly and effectively to emergent and non-emergent situations.
  • Reports all safety and fire hazards observed on routine patrols and inspections to the Director of Safety & Security or his designee.
  • Monitors Christian Health using electronic security equipment (closed-circuit television, alarms, etc.).
  • Reports and receives instructions and updates from the Director of Safety & Security or Risk Manager and when necessary to the on-duty maintenance staff member. evening shift Supervisor.
  • Writes accurate, clear and legible incident reports and documents investigatory steps and results.
  • Investigates incidents of unusual circumstances reported by Christian Health personnel, visitors, physicians, patients or residents and reports and documents all incidents, verbally or through the incident reporting system (LawSoft) form, by the end of each shift.
  • Assists motorists who become stranded on Christian Health property.
  • Ensures only authorized personnel are admitted into Christian Health premises.
  • Communicates daily (Monday - Friday) with the Director of Safety & Security, or his designed and as needed the on-duty maintenance staff member evening shift supervisor regarding any unusual situations.
  • Provides a visible presence of Security in Ramapo Ridge, the Security Office, and all other high-risk areas as assigned.
  • Responds to all emergency calls for assistance to control disorderly conduct or combative patients, visitors, and residents.
  • Assists and gives courteous responses to any inquiries made by patients, visitors, residents, or personnel.
  • Responds to all emergency situations codes.
  • Enforces all Christian Health policies and procedures as assigned by Administration, the Risk Manager and the Director of Safety & Security Safety.
  • Works with Director of Safety & Security to report any safety concerns observed during the course of security rounds.
  • Orients new Security personnel to position and assigned responsibilities.
  • Assists all Police Departments and other Emergency Services on campus.
  • Emergency response - Primary responder to all emergencies reported on the Main Campus.
  • Assist visitors and vendors with directions.
  • Helps ensure visitors and vendors have signed in and wear appropriate badge.
  • Assists with Fire and Emergency drills as directed by the Director of Safety & Security.
  • Will complete all in-service training, lectures, and programs as assigned.
  • Will attend all mandatory, Security meetings (departmental or special).
  • Will be required to perform duties as assigned by Security Management and required to carry out emergency duties when necessary.
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Schedule: Part-time 11:00pm-7:00am working Every Other Saturday and Sunday only.
Education: High School Diploma; or equivalent.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Demonstrates compliance with the CH ASPIRE Standards of Performance.
Qualifications:
  • Valid drivers license required.
  • One year experience in the field of security management; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in Crisis De-escalation techniques through regular attendance of required in-service training.
  • Criminal justice background with traffic control experience preferred.
