Bishop CISD is seeking qualified and dedicated Armed Level III Security Officers (School Marshals) to join our team in providing a safe and secure learning environment for our students, staff, and visitors. This position is vital to our district's safety and security operations and plays a key role in emergency preparedness and response.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Patrol assigned school campuses, buildings, and district properties on foot or in a vehicle.
  • Protect students, staff, visitors, and district assets from harm, theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access.
  • Monitor and enforce Bishop CISD policies, safety regulations, and applicable laws.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to incidents, emergencies, disturbances, or safety concerns.
  • Collaborate with campus administration and law enforcement as needed.
  • Conduct inspections of buildings and perimeter security, including locks, doors, gates, alarms, and surveillance systems.
  • Provide a visible deterrent by maintaining a professional and vigilant security presence.
  • Assist in implementing school safety drills, lockdowns, evacuations, and emergency response plans.
  • Prepare clear and detailed incident reports and maintain accurate logs and documentation.
  • Support conflict resolution, de-escalation, and safe interventions in behavioral incidents.
  • Serve as a resource to students and staff, fostering positive relationships while maintaining firm security protocols.
  • Attend regular training sessions and stay current on all safety procedures and legal standards.
  • Act as essential personnel and be available for recall during district emergencies, inclement weather events, or crisis situations.

Supervision Received:
Reports directly to the Superintendent and Director of School Safety and Security.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must possess a valid Texas Department of Public Safety Level III Commissioned Security Officer License.
  • High school diploma or GED (college coursework or military/law enforcement experience preferred).
  • No criminal history; must pass a comprehensive background check, including fingerprinting.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong communication, observational, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
  • Knowledge of Texas Education Code related to school safety and security.
  • Physically able to walk, stand, climb stairs, and respond quickly in emergencies.
  • Must be of high moral character, dependable, punctual, and maintain confidentiality.
