Job Summary

Clark Testing is seeking a Sample Prep Technician for our Dupo, Illinois coal & coke testing facility. In this position, which involves manual labor and working nights and weekends, the Sample Prep Technician collects samples from client sites and ensures all applicable procedures are completed and recorded upon return to the testing facility.

To start, this is a part-time, Non-exempt, hourly position. Full-time employment may be achieved upon successful completion of Clark Testing's 90-day introductory review period at which time the proven candidate’s eligibility for benefits may include medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, employee assistance program (EAP), 401(K) plan with discretionary employer match, and paid time off and holidays.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Pick up and collect 500-pound samples from client sites 3 - 5 times per day.
  • Prep all daily incoming samples per specifications.
  • Log all daily test data into database or spreadsheet.
  • Responsible for making and recording experimental observations.
  • Generate documentation for all tests performed.
  • Communicate timely and accurate analytical information to customers.
  • Follow all SOP's and aid in the review of laboratory procedures.
  • Work both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Assist co-workers in other lab areas when needed and as assigned by management.
  • Satisfactorily perform other duties and tasks as required by management.
  • Participate in functional team activities including safety, housekeeping, quality/process improvement, training, etc.

Qualifications & Competency Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required. Associate Degree in a physical science is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude is a plus.
  • Good interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work on a team as well as independently.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with co-workers and customers.
  • Committed to producing quality work while always doing so in a safe manner.
  • Must be committed to safe laboratory practices; including the willingness and ability to wear all job-related PPE and company issued uniform.
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Able to lift, carry, move, and transport objects of up to at least 50 pounds regularly.
  • Available and willing to work nights, weekends, shift work, and holidays (when needed).
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and have reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to pass drug screening and background checks.
  • Must be a US citizen.
