Coach Internships information

What is a coach internship?

Coach internships are structured, short-term learning opportunities designed to give aspiring coaches practical experience in their chosen sport or field. Interns typically work under the supervision of experienced coaches, assisting with training sessions, planning practices, and sometimes helping with administrative tasks. These internships help interns develop coaching skills, understand team dynamics, and build professional networks. They are commonly offered by schools, sports clubs, colleges, and community organizations.

What are the typical responsibilities and learning opportunities in a coach internship?

As a coach intern, you'll typically assist with planning and conducting practice sessions, supporting athletes during training, and handling some administrative tasks like maintaining equipment or recording attendance. You'll have the chance to observe experienced coaches, learn about sports program management, and develop your leadership and communication skills. This role often involves direct interaction with athletes, giving feedback, and collaborating with other staff members to ensure a positive team environment. Coach internships provide valuable hands-on experience that can pave the way for future coaching or sports management positions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a coach intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Coach Intern, you generally need foundational knowledge of coaching principles, a background in sports or physical education, and often current enrollment in a relevant degree program. Familiarity with sports analysis tools, practice planning software, and basic first aid certification are commonly expected. Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills help Coach Interns build rapport with athletes and support the coaching staff effectively. These skills ensure productive training environments, athlete development, and smooth team operations while you learn and grow in the role.

This Isn’t a Job,  It’s a Launchpad for Your Fitness Career

You know that feeling when you walk into a room and you just know you belong there?
That’s what we’ve built at Herndon Fit Body Boot Camp. A place where purpose meets passion, and where fitness isn’t just about burpees and dumbbells… it’s about becoming the best version of yourself.
We’re not hiring an employee.
We’re looking for the next coach we can pour into — someone hungry to learn, to grow, to lead. Someone who’s been searching for that place where they can finally combine their love for fitness with a real career path.
Because this isn’t just a paycheck.
This is mentorship, development, and transformation — from the inside out.

About the Opportunity

We’re currently accepting applications for our Coach Internship Program — a paid, part-time opportunity (starting at $14–$20/hour) designed to train and equip you to coach alongside some of the top fitness leaders in the country.
You’ll learn directly from incredible mentors like Bryce and Barrett HensonDarrylynn Silva-Costa, George Vidosh, and Robert Linkul — people who have built empires in fitness, leadership, and personal development. You’ll be immersed in a culture of excellence, energy, and impact.
We’ll teach you how to coach our signature 30-minute group HIRT sessions, build authentic client relationships, and develop the confidence to lead a room of 20+ people — all while mastering the business and heart behind the fitness industry.
