As a Computer Science Co-Op, you will focus on the total software evolution process from planning to deployment. Our goal is to provide an experience that will be an important, effective first step in the career of a future software engineer.

This position is for a Spring 2027 Co-Op, with a start date of January 2027 and an end date of May 2027.

What You’ll Do:

New Feature Development / Testing

  • Execute test plans under the direction of a project engineer, format the results in a useable and effective manner, and analyze the results against stated objectives.
  • Learn how mechanical aspects influence software during the design process, working directly with Mechanical Engineers and ME Co-Ops.
  • Test analysis and engineering calculations.

Software Quality Assurance

  • Exposure to Software Version Control and the debugging environment through Visual Studio.
  • Work with Hunter’s QA Department and Project Engineers to maintain existing software.
  • Learn concepts of multiple models (varying feature sets) support and backwards compatibility.
  • Write new test software to automate data gathering.

Equipment Evaluation

  • Gain experience assisting with competitive analysis and equipment operation.

Capstone Presentation / Exposure to Upper Leadership

  • Near the end of the job, our C++/balancer Co-Op students are well equipped to prepare a compelling Capstone PowerPoint presentation.
  • Co-Ops can present their presentations live to all the other Co-Ops and upper management/leadership.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Major study in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Experience with C/C++ required
  • Experience with Linux, and/or Microsoft VS is a plus
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication skills
