Job description

** SIGN ON BONUS UP TO $1000 **

Summary: The Respiratory Therapist provides care by order of a physician or through protocols approved by the Medical Staff to patients with heart and lung ailments such as cardiac failure, asthma, pulmonary edema, emphysema, COPD, cerebral thrombosis, drowning, hemorrhage, shock, respiratory distress, and post-op life support. The Respiratory Therapist helps in restoring adequate ventilation and cardiopulmonary function to patients suffering from cardiopulmonary arrest. Respiratory therapists are also responsible for monitoring patients and their responses to therapy being administered. By use of protocols the therapist modifies and or discontinues the patient s therapy plan as appropriate. The therapists also provide education to patients, their families and other co-workers as needed. Must meet per diem requirements set by management.


Education: Associate Degree in Applied Science preferred. Completion of NBRC RRT or CRT credentialing required.


Licensure: Current RI RCP licensure, required.


Skills and Abilities:


· Knowledge of basic respiratory therapy modalities and management of ventilators.

· Organization skills with sound ability to set priorities.

· Ability to utilize sound interpersonal skills when interacting with patients and taking into consideration cultural background, linguistic skills and age of customers.

· Maintains information confidential (HIPAA).

· Demonstrated customer service skills.

· Ability to responsive customer service skills when interacting and taking into consideration cultural background, linguistic skills and age of customers.

· Ability to work cooperatively with peers and other disciplines.

· Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with peers and other interdisciplinary teams.


Working Conditions, Physical Environment and/or Safety Requirements: Visual acuity and hand dexterity. Physical ability involves variety of body movements including stooping, bending, kneeling, lifting, standing, walking, twisting, stretching and reaching. Physical ability involves pushing, pulling and lifting more than 30 lbs.
