Job description

Industrial Hygiene & Safety Intern

In Soda Springs, Idaho, we produce elemental phosphorus, a key component to ensuring farmers are more productive — something that’s becoming increasingly important in our growing world; we currently have an opening for an Industrial Hygiene & Safety Co-Op or Intern for Spring, Summer, or Fall 2027 at this location.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform IH monitoring for various chemical and physical hazards such as noise, silica dust, phosphine, CO, SO2, H2S, and welding fumes;
  • Perform quantitative respirator fit testing;
  • Audit welding fume hoods;
  • Assist with safety-related and/or emergency response projects, as needed;
  • Perform S&H-related training;
  • Assist in safety inspections & audits;
  • Update IH/Safety procedures;
  • Participate in incident investigations;
  • Exhibit a strong safety ethic;
  • Support plant-wide initiatives.
WHO YOU ARE
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale;
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene (or related field), and have completed their sophomore year by the start of their co-op or internship;
  • Must return to school upon completion of their internship term;
  • Prior co-op or internship experience;
  • Experience and/or interest in an industrial environment;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Good problem-solving skills;
  • High degree of personal initiative;
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills;
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and a diverse culture.
