Job description

We are looking for:

A Process Engineering Co-Op for our West Deptford, NJ location. As part of the Syensqo group of companies, Syensqo Specialty Polymers creates innovative products using fluorine-based chemical technology (fluorochemistry) that benefits diverse customers worldwide. Fluorochemicals, while offering a balance of useful properties, are particularly noted for their exceptional resistance to other chemical agents and environments that attack and degrade lesser materials. Applications that exploit the characteristics of fluorochemicals include battery components, durable coatings for architectural components, linings for chemical process vessels and piping, jacketing for electrical wiring, and high performance lubricants.This internship will be for 5-7 months and can be completed in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027.

We count on you for: 

As a member of the production department at the West Deptford plant, the successful candidate will be involved in supporting production at a polymer manufacturing facility. This work will include data gathering and analysis as well as assisting the plant staff in troubleshooting process problems. The co-op will have a variety of opportunities to actively participate in team activities and work independently. Form Example, team activities may include testing new products orprocess improvements, developing projects, or evaluating process performance.Activities may include

  • Generating or updating standard operating procedures for improvements / best practices
  • Streamlining and digitalizing production records, round sheets etc. to increase efficiency and improve data collection and analysis
  • Investigate trends in quality and production parameters. Analysis of production process data.
  • Develop Statistical Process Control tools to improve quality control of processes
  • Optimizing and troubleshooting production processes
  • Basic data generation to support the transition of new products and processes from the lab scale to the industrial scale
  • The primary processes supported are poly(vinylidene fluoride) and fluoroelastomers produced at the West Deptford plant.
  • The co-op will be expected to have a working knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software. Basic understanding of material balances, chemistry, and thermodynamics is expected.
