Job description

CO-OP STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES
Build real infrastructure. Learn fast. Make an impact.

Why this Role

Looking for a co-op position where you can apply your engineering mindset to real infrastructure projects?

Encepta is seeking a Modelling Specialist Co-op to support our telecommunications design and structural analysis teams. You'll work with point-cloud data, field measurements and technical information to build accurate 3D models of aerial infrastructure across British Columbia.

This is a strong opportunity for someone who enjoys working with digital models, spotting small details, solving technical problems and understanding how real-world infrastructure fits together.

What You'll Be Responsible For

Working closely with our modelling, geomatics and Pole Loading Analysis teams, you will:

  • Process point-cloud data, field photographs and measurements.
  • Digitize aerial telecommunications infrastructure and create accurate 3D models.
  • Compare information across multiple programs and datasets to ensure models match real-world conditions.
  • Identify missing, conflicting or unclear information and raise questions early.
  • Complete detailed modelling assignments while meeting quality and productivity expectations.
  • Document your work and contribute ideas that improve workflows and efficiency

What Success Looks Like

You'll be successful in this role if you:

  • Learn new tools and technical concepts quickly.
  • Ask thoughtful questions and apply feedback.
  • Produce accurate, consistent work the team can rely on.
  • Approach unfamiliar problems logically and constructively.
  • Maintain attention to detail during repetitive computer-based work.
  • Manage multiple assignments and priorities effectively.
  • Become increasingly independent as your knowledge develops.

What We're Looking For

We're open to Co-Op students from a range of programs, including engineering/technology, GIS, computer science, and related disciplines. Strong candidates typically bring:

  • Interest in infrastructure, telecommunications, mapping, data, or software (depending on discipline).
  • Comfort learning new tools and systems (for example: AutoCAD/Revit, GIS/CAD tools, Python/SQL, JavaScript, or common programming frameworks).
  • Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Organization and time management for multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Clear communication and a collaborative, respectful work style.
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace or equivalent productivity tools.

What's In It for YOU?

We know that when you grow, we grow. That's why we offer more than just a job, we offer a launchpad for your career:

  • Real project experience: Support active telecommunications infrastructure projects across BC.
  • Practical skill development: Build experience in 3D modelling, point-cloud data and structural analysis workflows.
  • Structured training: Learn directly from experienced modelling, geomatics and engineering professionals.
  • Career exposure: Explore future pathways in field data, quality assurance, structural analysis and infrastructure design.
  • Visible impact: Your models will directly support the teams assessing real aerial infrastructure.
  • Collaborative culture: Join a team that values curiosity, accountability and continuous improvement.
