Cnc Weekend information

What is a CNC weekend position?

A CNC Weekend position refers to a role where an individual operates and maintains Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines during weekend shifts. These technicians or operators are responsible for setting up machinery, monitoring production runs, and performing quality checks, typically during Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, or other designated weekend hours. This schedule is often offered to meet increased production demands or to keep manufacturing processes running continuously. CNC Weekend roles may include premium pay due to the non-traditional working hours. Candidates usually need experience with CNC machines, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues.

What are the typical work hours and team dynamics for a CNC weekend position?

CNC Weekend roles typically involve working extended shifts over the weekend, such as 12-hour shifts on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, allowing for more days off during the week. You’ll often be part of a smaller, close-knit team that handles production runs and troubleshooting with less direct supervision compared to weekday shifts. Communication is essential, as you’ll need to coordinate with weekday teams to ensure smooth transitions and consistent quality. This schedule can be ideal for those seeking work-life balance or who prefer condensed workweeks.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a CNC weekend operator?

To excel as a CNC Operator on the weekend shift, you need a strong understanding of machining processes, blueprint reading, and experience with CNC programming, usually backed by a high school diploma or technical certification in manufacturing. Familiarity with CNC machines, G-code, CAD/CAM software, and precision measuring tools is commonly required. Attention to detail, problem-solving, and the ability to work independently are crucial soft skills for this role. These competencies ensure the efficient production of high-quality parts, minimize downtime, and maintain safety in a manufacturing environment during off-hours.

CNC OPERATORS – COME GROW WITH US!

Build Your Skills. Build Your Career. Build What’s Next.

Chandler Industries is growing, and we’re looking for CNC Operators to join our team in Blaine, Minnesota!

If you have machining experience and are looking for more than just your next job, this could be the opportunity for you. At Chandler, we want people who are ready to learn, take on new challenges, and grow their careers in CNC machining.

Why Chandler?

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Grow your CNC career — develop your skills and take on increasing levels of responsibility as you gain experience.
  • Learn advanced machining technology and build valuable technical skills.
  • Work with new full 5-Axis Matsuura machining centers producing complex, high-precision parts.
  • Gain exposure to automation, robotics, pallet systems, and advanced manufacturing technology.
  • Develop your skills in blueprint reading, inspection, tooling, offsets, machine operation, and troubleshooting.
  • Work alongside experienced machinists and manufacturing professionals who can help you continue to learn.
  • Be part of a growing company where strong performers have opportunities to advance.

Our CNC Operators operate and monitor CNC equipment, load and unload parts, perform quality inspections, make basic machine adjustments, replace tooling, and help keep equipment running safely and efficiently.

We’re Looking for People Who Want to Grow

You don't need to know everything on day one. We're looking for people with mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn. Candidates should have at least one year of machine operator experience or a CNC Machine Technology certificate.

Now Hiring: 2nd & 3rd Shift

Our off-shift opportunities are a great way to earn additional shift differential while building your CNC skills and career.

Your Next Step in CNC Machining Starts Here

Whether you're an experienced CNC Operator or earlier in your machining career and ready to take the next step, we want to hear from you.

Join a growing precision manufacturing company. Learn new technology. Expand your skills. And create a career path you can build on.
