WE MANUFACTURE FUN!! Cardinal Systems Inc. is one of the nation's largest technologically advanced manufacturers of galvanized steel walls for in-ground swimming pools. In addition to steel walls, we manufacture steel steps and benches, aluminum coping, liner track, deck drains, liner bead and other custom fabrications.

The CNC Programmer is responsible for creating and maintaining CNC programs used to manufacture components in accordance with engineering drawings and production requirements. This position works closely with Engineering, CAD, and Production to develop efficient machine programs, maximize material utilization, troubleshoot programming issues, and support the overall manufacturing process.

Essential Functions of a CNC Programmer:
  • Create and maintain CNC punch machine programs using Sigmanest, TruTops, or other applicable programming and nesting software.
  • Read and interpret CAD drawings, blueprints, part drawings, and other technical documentation to determine programming requirements.
  • Utilize Global Shop ERP to access and export work order and production information needed for programming.
  • Create program sheets, radius sheets, and other production documentation for CNC machine operators.
  • Develop efficient nesting layouts to maximize material utilization and reduce scrap.
  • Review programs for accuracy and make adjustments to improve machine efficiency, cycle time, and material yield.
  • Work closely with CNC operators to troubleshoot programming or production issues and implement appropriate corrections.
  • Coordinate with CAD, Engineering, Customer Service, and Production to clarify drawings, specifications, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Assist with identifying opportunities to improve programming methods, manufacturing processes, and production efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate programming files and related documentation.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area and follow established company procedures.
  • Maintain a level of quality that meets or exceeds company standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications for a CNC Programmer:
  • Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • CNC programming and/or nesting software experience preferred; Sigmanest or TruTops experience is a plus.
  • General understanding of CNC equipment and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong computer and technical skills with the ability to learn manufacturing software and systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to troubleshoot programming and production-related issues.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with Engineering and Production teams.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Good math skills required.
  • Dependable, adaptable, and willing to learn new equipment, software, and manufacturing processes.
