Job Description
JOB TITLE: Toolmaker: Levels I, II, III
LOCATION: Evansville Tool Shop
SUPERVISOR: Tooling Machine Supervisor
1.0 PURPOSE:
1.1 Construct, refurbish and repair mold components using CNC and manual machines.
1.2 Journeyman Level I: Assist Area Supervisor in organizing and directing the activities of employee's primary area.
2.0 RESPONSIBILITIES, including but not limited to:
2.1 Use caution and support systems to assure a safety event free facility.
2.2 Respond to any emergency or potential emergency following established procedures.
2.3 Observe, respond and report any instance of product, service, or quality systems non-conformity.
2.4 Security diligence, including maintaining control of key cards, preventing unauthorized entry to Berry facilities by non-Berry employees, and proper maintenance / security of Berry equipment and information.
2.5 Successfully complete Primary Duties as outlined in 4.0 and associated training.
3.0 AUTHORITIES, including but not limited to:
3.1 Pause activities and notify Safety lead in any facility regarding instances of potentially unsafe work environments or employee and supplier practices.
3.2 Initiate action to prevent occurrences of any non-conformity of product, service or quality systems.
3.3 Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels.
3.4 Suggest actions for continual improvement to products, processes, or systems and verify the implementation of solutions.
4.0 PRIMARY DUTIES, including but not limited to:
4.1 Operate assigned make of CNC or manual machine(s).
4.2 Use precision measuring tools to accurately record dimensions of components.
4.3 Assist superiors in any day to day activity.
4.4 Maintain cleanliness of shop.
4.5 Work overtime as needed.
4.6 Level III:
A. Develop better understanding of machine functions and the setup process
B. Learn Mastercam, CNC and / or Mazatrol programming
C. Learn how to hold tight tolerances in efficient time.
4.7 Level II:
A. Hold tight tolerances in efficient time.
B. Program using Mastercam, CNC, and / or Mazatrol
C. Perform general CNC operations from setup to finish dimension.
D. Read and understand blue prints.
E. Develop skills in quality investigation, CMM operation, Assembly, or other focus areas within the Tool Shop.
F. Use shop schedule to accurately schedule operations within individual work cell.
G. Assist superiors with work flow in shop and completion schedule.
4.8 Level I:
A. Train and assist Level III and II Journeymen to hold tight tolerances in efficient time.
B. Read blue prints and direct others on processes.
C. Use shop schedule to accurately schedule projects within area cells.
D. Assist superiors with decision making in machining processes, quality investigation, and / or CMM operation.
5.0 QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION REQUIRED:
5.1 High school education / GED equivalent
5.2 Ability to occasionally climb on and off a forklift safely and without assistance.
5.3 Ability to safely operate a forklift in high traffic, low clearance areas while not posing a safety risk to others. Must not be at risk of sudden alterations in consciousness.
5.4 Able to accurately read blue prints.
5.5 Ability to push/pull loads of approximately 75 lbs at a minimum of 10 times per day/shift.
5.6 Able to stand/walk for 7.5 hours of an 8-hour shift.
5.7 Journeyman Level III:
A. Must be a Certified Journeyman Tool Maker or have equivalent experience.
B. Has experience in at least one of the following areas: Grinding, Mill, Lathe, Welding, Polish, EDM, Turn, Quality and / or Assembly, etc.
5.8 Journeyman Level II:
A. Strong work history of consistent attendance and overtime flexibility.
B. Must be a Certified Journeyman Tool Maker or have equivalent experience.
C. Has significant experience in at least two of the following areas: Grinding, Mill, Lathe, Welding, Polish, EDM, Turn, Quality and / or Assembly, etc.
D. Ability to program using Mastercam, CNC, and / or Mazatrol
E. Understands the injection or blow molding process and how each component affects the total outcome.
5.9 Journeyman Level I:
A. Must be Certified Journeyman Tool Maker.
B. Strong work history of consistent attendance and overtime flexibility.
C. Proven ability to lead, motivate and direct employees.
D. Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
E. Have advanced knowledge of Mastercam, CNC and / or Mazatrol software.
F. Fully understand the injection or blow molding process and how each component we make affects the total outcome.
G. Has significant expertise in two or more of the following areas: Grinding, Mill, Lathe, Welding, Polish, EDM, Turn, Quality and / or Assembly, etc.
6.0 PREFERRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
6.1 Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
