Position Summary:

We are seeking a CNC Programming Specialist that will focus on creating and optimizing programs for 3-axis mills and 2-axis lathes with a focus on manufacturing efficiency, production workflows, and ensuring high-quality output.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, test, and document CNC programs for 2-axis lathes and 3-axis mills using Mastercam.
  • Review existing CNC programs against current engineering drawings to confirm revision accuracy, reduce run times, and improve machine output.
  • Create CNC setup sheets that accurately provide machine operators with the specifications of each job.
  • Supported the implementation of a 5-axis CNC machine by collaborating with the CNC Programming Manager to develop CNC programs, setup sheets, and standardized procedures.
  • Work with machinists and engineering teams to develop effective work holding solutions.
  • Maintain tooling inventory levels and recommend tooling upgrades when needed.
  • Train and support production staff on new technologies and process improvements.
  • Support job routing development and quoting activities by estimating machine hours and evaluating manufacturing processes for efficiency gains.
  • Collaborate with production personnel to troubleshoot routing-related issues and implement cost-saving process improvements.
  • Assist with training new machine operators as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of CNC programming experience or equivalent training and hands-on experience.
  • Proficient in Mastercam; lathe and 3-axis milling required, 5-axis preferred.
  • Experience operating CNC machines, including Haas, Mazak, and milling/turning equipment.
  • Ability to interpret, verify, and edit G&M Code
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and CAD models.
  • Experience with ERP systems for production planning and control.
  • Excellent communication, project management and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Will frequently sit at a desk, stand and walk for prolonged periods on concrete
  • Must have the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE
  • Operates and handles a computer, equipment and tools using hands and fingers frequently to complete tasks
  • Exposure to dust/fumes, intense light
