The Role
Fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs production sheet metal products and equipment such as control boxes, drain pipes, ventilators, and furnace casings in accordance with blueprints, drawings, and specifications. Makes sheet metal layouts; sets up and operates fabricating machinery; shapes metal over anvils, blocks, or forms; operates welding and soldering equipment; and inspects assemblies and installations for conformance to specifications. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
Experience with the following
1500 Ton CNC Standard Brake Press
750 Ton CNC Accur Press
400 Ton Standard C-Frame Press
80 Ton CNC DigiBend
Print reading (reading work packages/navigating online systems to find dimensions, angles and radius)
Creating programs on CNC press computers
Layout of material to ensure proper and accurate forming of parts
Ensure we have the proper tooling to complete necessary work
Follow all shipyard quality standards and dimension tolerance
Coordinate with engineers and programmers to ensure machine and part capability's
Creating templates and radius gauges to complete work
Navigating Swims, Autocad, Teamcenter, and dxf files to find parts or pull measurements
Working with tools such as calipers, protractors, angles finders, tape measures, digital radius gauge
Must Have
High School diploma or equivalent and 5 years additional education and/or related experience; Apprentice graduate/ Associate's Degree in relevant discipline and 3 years of related experience. May require certification.
