Job description

Job Description – CNC Operator

This role is responsible for operating and maintaining CNC cutting equipment to produce finished parts, ensuring pieces are cut accurately, efficiently, and to specification. The CNC Operator will set up jobs, monitor cutting operations, perform quality checks on finished pieces, and support production schedules by minimizing downtime, material waste, and rework. There may also be times when the CNC Operator is needed to assist with other foam production processes to support overall production demands.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC cutting machines according to job specifications and cut files

• Create cut files based on work orders and technical drawings

• Load, position, and secure sheet material to ensure accurate, consistent cuts

• Read and interpret work orders, cut lists, and technical drawings to determine correct dimensions, quantities, and nesting layouts

• Monitor cutting operations in progress and adjust settings as needed to maintain quality and throughput

• Perform in-process and finished-part inspections to confirm pieces meet dimensional and quality standards

• Identify and report material defects, machine malfunctions, or process deviations to the supervisor

• Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning, and minor troubleshooting to minimize downtime

• Optimize material usage and nesting to reduce scrap and waste

• Maintain accurate production records, including piece counts, material usage, and downtime

• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area

• Assist with other foam production processes as needed to support production demands

Skills / Requirements

• Prior experience operating CNC routers, cutters, or similar equipment in a manufacturing environment

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, cut files, and work orders

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and consistency
