What You Will Be Doing:

As a CNC Laser Operator, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC laser cutting machines to cut sheet metal components according to precise specifications. This role requires a strong understanding of laser cutting technology, blueprint reading, and quality control standards.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities:
  • Set up and operate CNC laser cutting machines (e.g., Trumpf, Amada, Bystronic, Mazak, etc.) to cut sheet metal parts.
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine machine settings and cutting paths.
  • Load and unload sheet metal materials onto the machine bed using appropriate lifting equipment.
  • Monitor machine operation and make necessary adjustments to ensure optimal cutting quality and efficiency.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of laser equipment and work area.
  • Inspect finished parts using measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, ruler) to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Identify and troubleshoot machine or material issues and report them to maintenance or supervisors.
  • Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Additional duties as assigned by manager.
Education/Experience:
  • The knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma and/or GED.ย  ย 
  • Associate degree or technical diploma inย Manufacturing Technology,ย Precision Machining,ย Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Additional coursework or certification inย CNC Machining,ย Laser Technology, orย Industrial Safetyย is a plus.
  • Experience with different types of sheet metal (e.g., stainless steel, aluminum, carbon steel).
  • Basic knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and CNC programming is an advantage.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and best practices in a fabrication shop.

  • Willing to work in extreme weather conditions and around loud noises.

  • Will require appropriate Personal Protection Equipment (safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, etc.) to be worn.ย 
  • Able to max lift 50 lbs. without assistance.ย  May include the use of lifting devices to move components 35 lbs. or more.ย ย
