CNC Operator / Machinist-in-Training
Location: Farmingdale, NY
Employment Type: Full-Time
About the Role
Superior Motion Controls is seeking motivated CNC Operators and Machinists-in-Training to join our precision manufacturing team in Farmingdale, NY. This role is ideal for individuals with foundational CNC experience who are eager to grow into full setup machinists through hands- on training and mentorship. Team members will contribute immediately while developing advanced machining skills that support critical defense and aerospace manufacturing operations.
What You'll Do
  • Operate CNC machining centers under the guidance of experienced machinists
  • Learn to set up and run parts from start to finish
  • Assist in producing precision components per engineering drawings and specifications
  • Learn to read and interpret blueprints, setup sheets, and GD&T requirements
  • Perform in-process and finished part inspections
  • Learn proper tool selection, speeds, feeds, and fixture setup
  • Support routine machine maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Maintain production records and setup documentation
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment
Must-Have Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience in a CNC manufacturing environment
  • Basic experience operating CNC machinery
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
  • Basic knowledge of precision measuring instruments including:
    • Micrometers
    • Calipers
    • Height gauges
    • Dial indicators
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions
Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with Fanuc, Haas, OKK, or similar CNC control platforms
