Job description

We are currently hiring for a full-time Senior CNC Milling Machinist for our manufacturing facility in Calgary, Alberta. A CNC Machinist produces machined parts by programming, setting up and operating a CNC machine, while maintaining quality and safety standards.

As a Senior CNC Milling Machinist, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Program, set up, and operate CNC machines to produce parts to specified tolerances using Mastercam
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings to ensure all specifications are met
  • Select appropriate tooling, materials, and setup methods to optimize efficiency and accuracy
  • Adjust machine speeds, feeds, tooling, and cutting strategies to maintain precision and part quality
  • Perform in-process inspections using calibrated measuring tools to verify dimensional accuracy
  • Work with department leads and production coordinators to iterate components through machining / CMM cycles quickly and arrive at stable production for tight tolerance components
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose common CNC machining issues
  • Ensure all parts meet company quality standards and comply with ISO & AS9100 requirements
  • Perform minor machine maintenance and tool calibration as required
  • Plan and manage time effectively to meet current and upcoming job requirements
  • Collaborate with other machinists to find appropriate solutions to complex machining challenges
  • Work with and teach less experienced machinist to ensure they can remain productive while gaining skills and knowledge for independence
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all Health & Safety and Controlled Goods regulations

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years experience operating CNC Machines
  • Journeyman, machinist trade certificate or equivalent experience is considered an asset
  • Experience in Mastercam, Powermill, Solidworks or any other CAD/CAM software is considered an asset
  • It is mandatory that this role take part in a criminal record check and controlled goods screen

  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to work with others to solve complex machining challenges
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T and history of working with CMM for part verification
  • The ability to stand for long periods of time, complete repetitive tasks/movements and potentially lifting heavy objects up to 50lbs
