Job description

Job Title: CNC MachinistJob Description

As a CNC Machinist, you will manufacture detailed parts and tools from blueprints, sketches, drawings, or verbal instructions using various computer- or mechanically controlled machine tools and equipment. You will set up and operate mills, lathes, CNC machine tools, grinders, and other machine equipment using mathematical and geometrical calculations. Precision measuring instruments will be used to check and maintain tolerances. You will calculate dimensions, install, align, secure, and adjust cutting tools and workpieces, monitor the feed and speed of machines, and measure and examine completed products for defects. You may also perform complex and varied machining operations in prototype experimental activities and typically set up stable, repeat-production parts.

Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, and maintain CNC milling and turning centers according to complex blueprints and specifications.
  • Retrieve job-related information such as job routings, part drawing, tool lists, and work instructions.
  • Select and utilize appropriate cutting tools and work holding for various materials and machining processes.
  • Document manufactured quantities and all required processes utilizing ERP systems.
  • Perform precise measurements and inspections to ensure parts meet stringent quality control standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize machining efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols.
  • May assist with developing new machining methods and tooling for complex parts.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
  • 5+ years of machinist experience
  • High school degree or equivalent, plus advanced training
  • ITAR compliance
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of customer specifications and requirements
  • Basic computer skills
  • Problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to use calipers, micrometers, etc.
  • Mastery of basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Understanding and compliance with safety requirements
  • Commitment to keep work area clean and free of debris
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Machine setup and operation expertise
  • Proficiency in programming and CNC program edits
  • Experience with CMM operation, vertical and horizontal mills
  • Blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge
  • Familiarity with G code

Work Environment

Work in a very large and clean machine shop environment. Day shifts run from 6:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday. Swing shifts are from 4:30 pm to 2:45 am, Monday through Thursday with an 8% shift differential. Weekend shifts are from 5:00 am to 5:30 pm, Friday through Sunday with a 12% shift differential.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
