CNC Machine Programmer

The Role:
As the CNC Programmer, you will join our drilling team and support by programming CNC machines using engineering blueprints and models. CNC Machines include 3-4 axis vertical mills and lathes.
Your Responsibilities:
  • Obtains jobs from and coordinates program due dates with production planners.
  • Reviews drawings for any special machine tooling or fixture requirements.
  • Places orders for special tooling or fixtures through manufacturing engineering; follow up to ensure on-time availability.
  • Programs parts using Mastercam software.
  • Designs fixturing and program templates for reoccurring part families.
  • Prepares final program using the CNC post processor and delivers to CNC Departments.
  • Prints and assembles work order packets for CNC jobs and delivers to CNC Machine Operators.
  • Works closely with the CNC Machine Operators to determine tooling feeds and speeds; adjusts as required.
  • Maintains data files for all CNC programs by item part number; updates program files as necessary with the corrected revision level programs.
  • Works individually and as part of a team to develop and implement quality and efficiency improvements; maintains cooperative relationships with employees at all levels.
  • Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships; training and teaching others.
  • Maintenance of a clean and orderly work area free of excess materials.
  • Support for and involvement in company, department, and/or safety policies, procedures, programs and activities.

Our Requirements:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); with minimum 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with CNC operation and metal machinability.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, proportions, and decimals. Ability and understanding of various measuring devices in meeting drawing dimensions and specifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, work orders, work instructions, diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Work requires continual attention to detail in following through, establishing priorities, meeting deadlines.
  • Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications including but not limited to: Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and JDE experience preferred.
