Job Description
Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking a CNC Machinist for a long-term, swing shift or weekend shift role with a plastics manufacturing company located in Tigard, OR. The CNC Machinist position is responsible for set-up and operation of 3-5 Axis CNC Mills or CNC Lathe machines in compliance with inch and metric drawing specifications.
PAY: $30/hr
CNC Machinist Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate 3-5 Axis CNC mill machines or CNC lathes to machine flat, contoured and formed parts to inch and metric drawing specifications.
  • Act as technical resource regarding tooling and machining capabilities.
  • Act as the lead in the machining department, supporting and directing staff.
  • Evaluate and justify new tooling and machining processes.
  • Communicate issues relating to work orders, programming errors, material shortages or errors.
  • Continuous focus on reduction of material, labor and scrap.
  • Perform minor maintenance activities as required by the preventive maintenance program.
  • Continued education and training including, but not limited to: ISO 9001, safety, blueprint reading, teamwork, Statistical Process Control and MasterCam.
  • Mentor and train other Machinists on staff.
  • Interact with engineers on design of parts.
  • Advise on corrective actions that need to be taken.
  • Other duties as assigned.

CNC Machinist Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of CNC Machining experience. Specialization in either mills or lathes.
  • Demonstrated ability to machine various plastics including WPP, NPP, FRPP, Polycarbonate, PVC, Acrylic, UHMW, Delrin, PTFE, PFA, and PVDF and other materials as they come up including metals.
  • Demonstrated ability to machine to .005 tolerances.
  • Able to use rotary table and divider head mill vise.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform tooling designs.
  • Demonstrated ability to use inspection tooling to measure and verify dimensions.
  • Must be able to read and interpret engineered drawings in metric, decimal and fractional inch units.
  • Demonstrated ability to set up manual machines using appropriate tooling and fixtures.
  • Demonstrated ability with troubleshooting skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to set up CNC machine loading programs, tools, fixtures and setting tool offsets.
  • Able to perform more complex variety of machining skills.
  • Ability to use MasterCam.
  • Ability to CNC Program preferred.
  • Good hand eye coordination and attention to detail. Ability to carefully handle fragile products, performs repetitive tasks, and demonstrates safety awareness.
  • Must be able to read and understand machine codes.
  • Must be able to lift and carry products weighing up to 35 pounds from staging area to CNC machine.
