What You'll Do

As an Advanced CNC Machinist, you'll independently set up, operate, troubleshoot, and optimize CNC and manual machining equipment to manufacture precision metal components that meet tight tolerances and customer specifications.

You'll work on:

  • CNC Lathes
  • CNC Mills
  • Horizontal Boring Bars
  • Manual machining equipment

Your expertise will help improve machining processes, maximize efficiency, reduce scrap, and maintain the exceptional quality JR Metal Works is known for.


Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Set up and operate CNC and manual lathes, mills, and boring bars.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, work instructions, and job travelers.
  • Select tooling, fixtures, workholding, offsets, feeds, and speeds for optimal machine performance.
  • Produce high-precision machined components within specified tolerances.
  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring equipment.
  • Use calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, dial indicators, and other inspection tools.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and make process adjustments to improve quality and production efficiency.
  • Monitor machine performance and recommend continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Complete production documentation accurately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow all quality, safety, and manufacturing procedures.


What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who brings strong technical machining experience and takes pride in producing high-quality work.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Advanced CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience setting up CNC lathes, mills, and/or boring bars
  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation
  • Experience machining precision metal components
  • Ability to hold tight tolerances
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, feeds, and speeds
  • Experience troubleshooting CNC machining issues
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Mechanical aptitude and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Night Shift Schedule

Night Shift I

Sunday - Tuesday

5:00 PM - 5:00 AM

Training may occur on day shift.

Day Shift Hours

Monday - Thursday

5:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Overtime opportunities are available but never mandatory.

Night Shift Benefit

Employees who physically work 36 hours during the scheduled workweek receive pay equivalent to 40 hours through our Night Shift Premium Program.
