Job description

Excel Machine & Tool is a growing precision machine shop in Mississauga specializing in CNC turning, repair work, tooling components, and small-to-medium production runs for industrial and aerospace-related customers.

We are looking for an experienced CNC Lathe Operator / Machinist who takes pride in accurate work, understands tight tolerances, and can work independently in a small-shop environment. The main focus of this role is CNC lathe work, with occasional manual milling and general machining support as needed.

The ideal candidate is someone who can set up and operate CNC lathes, read drawings, inspect their own work, and make sound decisions on the shop floor. We are not looking for someone who only pushes buttons — we need a machinist who understands parts, setups, tooling, feeds and speeds, and quality.

Responsibilities include:

  • Set up and operate CNC lathes
  • Machine parts according to drawings, tolerances, and customer requirements
  • Perform offsets, tool changes, and basic program adjustments as needed
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, thread gauges, and other measuring tools
  • Perform occasional manual milling, drilling, tapping, and general shop work
  • Work with materials such as steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, and engineered plastics
  • Maintain quality, accuracy, and consistency throughout the job
  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe
  • Communicate clearly about job status, issues, tooling needs, and improvements

What we are looking for:

  • Experience operating and setting up CNC lathes
  • Strong understanding of machining principles and shop practices
  • Ability to read drawings and work to tight tolerances
  • Comfortable inspecting your own parts
  • Experience with manual lathe or manual milling is an asset
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Good attitude, reliability, and pride in workmanship
  • Willingness to help in different areas of the shop when needed

Why join Excel Machine & Tool:

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to be more than just a number in a large factory. We are a smaller shop where good machinists are valued, your input matters, and your work directly impacts the success of the company.

You will work on a variety of parts instead of doing the same repetitive job every day. The work includes precision machining, tooling components, repairs, modifications, and custom jobs, which makes this a good fit for someone who enjoys real machining and problem-solving.

We are looking for someone long-term who wants steady work, respect, and the opportunity to grow with the company.
