CNC Laser Operator
Location: Newport News, VA
Shift: (day shift) Monday - Friday; 7am - 3:30pm OR (night shift) Monday - Friday; 12am - 8:30am
Type: Contract to Hire
About the Company:
Our client is a leader in custom precision sheet metal manufacturing on the East Coast.
Job Description:
The CNC Laser Operator will be setting up and operating a CNC Laser for cutting light gauge sheet metal.
Responsibilities:
- Produce sheet metal parts by setting up and operating a CNC co2 or fiber Laser;
- Perform machine set up including program retrieval, proper gases, proper nozzles, lens cleaning and adjustments, etc;
- Start up and shut down laser machines
- Check accuracy of work using blueprint and precision measuring tools such as calipers
- Inspect, clean, calibrate and perform basic preventive maintenance on machines
- Work with maintenance and repair technicians to diagnose equipment problems as needed
- Continuously monitor machine cutting performance and efficiency adjusting as needed;
- Read material tags & work orders, selecting correct materials;
- Locate and move raw material and parts with pallet jack or forklift
- Count and record daily production activity
- Separate cut parts from scrap
