Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist for our client, a well-established custom parts manufacturer in Troutdale, OR. These are full-time swing shift positions with a 3-day weekend every week. Candidates will train on day shift before transitioning to swing. This role is ideal for machinists who can work independently, troubleshoot effectively, and take ownership of their machine and production quality.
Pay & Schedule
Pay: $28-$32/hour DOE + $1.24/hour swing shift differential
Shift: Swing Shift | Monday-Thursday, 4:00pm-2:30am (training on Day Shift | Monday-Thursday, 5:30am-4:00pm)
Position Type: Direct Hire
Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate CNC horizontal machining centers to meet daily production requirements
  • Verify tooling, setups, and program coordinates before and during production runs
  • Edit programs and make tooling adjustments at the machine as needed
  • Prove out programs safely and efficiently
  • Inspect parts visually and mechanically for conformance to print using calipers, micrometers, and fixed gages
  • Monitor machine operation and identify improper machining conditions proactively
  • Troubleshoot machine and process issues independently; perform light preventative maintenance
  • Recommend tooling or process improvements to improve efficiency and quality
  • Load and unload materials and fixtures safely
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area

Required Qualifications
  • Previous CNC machining experience required
  • Horizontal machining center experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with FANUC controls preferred; Mori or Niigata machine experience a plus

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints independently
  • Strong understanding of speeds, feeds, tooling, and offsets
  • Troubleshooting aptitude and ability to work independently with limited support staff on shift
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Comfortable working in a non-climate-controlled shop environment
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs with assistance or lifting devices when needed
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check

Preferred Qualifications
  • Two-year Machining Technology degree or equivalent technical training
  • Experience in a high-mix, custom parts manufacturing environment
