Job description

Spherion has an immediate opening for a Temp to Hire CNC Machinist for an oil & gas related company in Broussard, LA.


Schedule: M-F 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, must have the ability to work overtime and weekends as required

Pay: $22-25/hour; Depending on Experience


Responsibilities:

- Blueprint reading for manufacturing prints, geometric tolerance, finish requirements, and manufacturing notes

- Ability to set-up 3 or 4 jaw lathe(s) with minimal supervision and without causing damage to parts or equipment.

- Ability to distinguish between different types of threaded connections, sizes and be familiar with all types of products manufactured

- Ability to perform job duties with Quality and Quantity in mind

- Must be able to setup and use MRP Gauges and other inspection equipment

- Ability to follow a work schedule and flow for completion of parts in timely manner

- Assist in controlling tooling inventory and tooling use

- Problem solving skills i.e., Speed and feed to reduce chatter

- Basic computer skills (email, MS Office) and good communication skills

- Must be self-directed and exhibit a strong ability to handle multiple tasks

- Lifting required of parts, tools, and accessories of parts up to 50 lbs.

- Operation of forklift and overhead hoist/crane, with safety in mind, for larger parts, greater than 50 lbs.


Required Skills:

- 3-5 years experience as CNC Machinist including the ability to perform own part setups

- Experience with Premium Threads (JFE, VAM, Etc) a Plus

- Adaptable to changing schedules

- Must be detailed oriented

- Team attitude required


Preferred Skills:

- Experience as CNC Programmer using CAM software with an understanding of G-Code and M-Code CNC Programming is a plus
