Job Description - Mountain Gateway Community College (MGCC) is a two-year public institution of higher education and one of 23 community colleges in Virginia. Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and experienced Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Instructor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nursing, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to student success. As a CNA Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction to prepare students for a rewarding career in healthcare.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging lesson plans and curriculum based on state and federal guidelines.
  • Teach classroom and hands-on skills training to students, ensuring they acquire essential CNA competencies.
  • Assess and evaluate student performance, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Maintain a supportive and positive learning environment that encourages student participation and growth.
  • Stay current with nursing practices and state regulations related to CNA training.
  • Collaborate with Program Head to ensure program effectiveness and compliance.
  • Assist students in preparing for the CNA certification exam

Special Assignments - May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications - Licensure: Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in the Commonwealth of Virginia. General Practice: Minimum of three (3) years of concurrent, active clinical nursing practice. Long-Term Care Focus: Minimum of two (2) years of clinical nursing experience, with at least one (1) full year of direct client care or supervisory experience in a long-term care environment. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate and inspire students. Knowledge of current CNA curricula and certification requirements. CPR and First Aid certification.

Additional Considerations - Previous teaching or training experience is a plus.
