Job description

ICSC's Commerce + Communities Today (C+CT) publication is looking for a hands-on digital editor to help produce, edit, publish and optimize editorial content across our website, newsletters and other digital platforms.

This role is ideal for an editor who enjoys the full digital publishing process - not just editing stories, but making sure they are effectively packaged, published and distributed to their audience. Newsletter production, CMS publishing and story optimization are core parts of the position. The digital editor will work closely with the managing editor and editor-in-chief, take ownership of key publishing workflows, contribute editorial judgment and ideas across C+CT and support new editorial initiatives.

This position is hybrid and based out of our New York City office, in-office days are Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays.

What You'll Do
  • Own production and QA of four weekly C+CT newsletters and manage the monthly Insight newsletter from content compilation through approvals
  • Edit, optimize and publish stories in the CMS, including headlines, ledes, subheads, images, metadata, SEO/AEO elements, newsletter copy, CTAs and social copy
  • Apply strong editorial judgment to improve story structure, clarity, presentation and digital performance
  • Draft and edit news items and other editorial content as needed, with opportunities for occasional reporting and feature writing
  • Support sponsored content and advertising workflows, including editing, scheduling, approvals and performance reporting
  • Manage freelance writer contracts and related administrative workflows
  • Contribute to new editorial initiatives, special projects and improvements to publishing processes
  • Create or prepare basic charts, tables, images and other visual assets as needed

What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of experience in journalism, digital editorial or publishing
  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills and sound editorial judgment
  • Hands-on experience publishing and formatting content in a CMS
  • Familiarity with SEO/AEO and digital content optimization
  • Strong organizational skills and comfort managing multiple recurring workflows and deadlines
  • High attention to detail, accuracy and follow-through
  • An interest in digital publishing operations and in seeing content through from draft to distribution

Experience with newsletters and email platforms such as Marketo Engage, B2B or trade journalism, sponsored content, analytics or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
