Job Summary

College Medical Center Phoenix is seeking a Nutrition Assistant to support daily meal service for patients and hospital guests. The ideal candidate will be responsible for serving food and assisting with minor food preparation while following department leadership direction, dietitian expectations, and established service procedures. This individual will be expected to comply with all food service regulations established by the Maricopa County Department of Health while upholding the ethics and moral standards of College Medical Center. This is an opportunity to be part of a team that reflects the mission, vision, and values of CMC while supporting a diverse workforce.


Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of food service experience (preferably healthcare experience) in a high volume food service environment

  • Proficient in use of cerner, reading census information, and using software in department to manage dietary guidelines and procedures to oversee the proper trays are served to the proper patient.

  • Consult with RD to assist in care plan for patients.

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

  • Ability to obtain (or already have) a Food Handlers Permit for AZ. Ability to obtain a ServeSafe Certification. Must have FH or ServeSafe within 30 days of hire date.

  • Must be able to work weekdays, weekends, holidays. Day or Night shift as required

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time (12 hour shifts), lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and work in high volume environments


Job-Specific Duties:

  • Prepare and serve all menu items according to standardized recipes and department service standards pertaining to menu prep for service.

  • Support hospital in areas of food service, nutrition, stocking nourishments, and dishes.

  • Follow guidelines for patient diet restrictions and management.

  • Maintain a safe working environment including following health department standards, regulatory procedures, all kitchen logs, and ensuring all kitchen equipment is used and maintained to proper department standards.

  • Maintain all kitchen and storage areas following local regulatory standards, department and company leadership standards, and required sanitation and safety standards.

  • Complete all assigned tasks while on duty adhering to safety standards and policies of CMC.

  • Complete Initial educational training modules and any subsequent modules assigned by CMC on time, and complete additional training when assigned within the required timeframe.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Attend all staff meetings, or additional educational modules assigned by leadership.
